The questions everyone asks first.
If we missed yours, write to hello@cruto.ai.
How is Cruto different from ChatGPT?
ChatGPT is a blank chat. Cruto is a workflow that remembers. When you import a job, every downstream step — cover letter, practice test, mock interview, debrief — is automatically tied to that role and your resume. ChatGPT can't pull listings, can't remember your job pipeline, can't run a real-time audio interview, and can't issue a cert recruiters can verify. Use ChatGPT for one-off favors. Use Cruto when you're actually job-hunting.
Where do the job listings come from?
We pull every day from LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, and ZipRecruiter into one ranked feed. Same role posted on multiple boards gets deduplicated. Each listing is scored against your resume so the top of your feed is the only stuff worth your time.
How good is the matching?
Day one is rough — your account hasn't told us anything yet, so the match score is mostly based on stated skills and seniority. After a few save/dismiss decisions, the noise drops fast and the signal climbs. You can also override filters (location, remote-only, employment type) anytime if the defaults aren't right.
How are mock interviews scored?
When your live session ends, we re-read the full transcript against a structured rubric: technical depth, communication clarity, how you handled follow-ups, and signals specific to the interviewer type (behavioral cues for HR, system-design depth for Senior Engineer, etc.). The 0–100 score is the rubric average. Don't fixate on the number — the strengths and weaknesses commentary is where the actual feedback lives.
Can recruiters actually verify my cert?
Yes. Your cert lives at a public URL (cruto.ai/cert/...) that anyone can open. No static PDF — the page reads from the live session record, so a recruiter sees the same result you see. You can unpublish anytime from the debrief screen, and the URL returns 404 immediately after.
Does Cruto auto-apply to jobs for me?
No — and we won't. Tools that mass-submit applications get filtered by recruiters and break job-board ToS. Cruto drafts the cover letter and tailors the resume; you press send. Then we prep you to actually win the interview. (Full argument: /blog/we-dont-auto-apply)
Does Cruto coach me live during a real interview?
No — and we won't. Live AI overlays get candidates disqualified when employers spot them, and they hollow out the credential. Cruto prepares you before the interview so you don't need a wire in your ear during it — the verified cert proves you know the answer, not that an AI fed it to you. (Full argument: /blog/we-dont-use-live-copilots)
Are my interview transcripts private?
Yes. Transcripts are encrypted and visible only to you, unless you choose to publish a cert. Cert publishing is opt-in per session — unpublished sessions are never world-readable. Live audio streams directly between your browser and the AI; we never store or even see the audio itself.
What about my resume?
We read your resume once at upload, save the text we need to match you to roles, and discard the original file. You can edit or delete what we kept anytime from the onboarding screen.
Do you sell my data?
No. We share what we need to share with the services that make the platform run — payments, sign-in, the AI behind interviews and grading, the job-feed aggregator, the code sandbox — and only what each one needs. The full list is in our privacy policy.
Can I download my data?
Yes — Profile → Privacy & data → Download my data. You'll get a portable file with everything we have on you: profile, completed interviews, transcripts, test attempts, and the jobs you've imported. Downloads straight to your browser.
Can I delete my account?
Yes — Profile → Danger zone → Delete account. Immediate and irrevocable: your profile, interview history, published certs, test attempts, and job pipeline all go in one click. You may also want to remove the linked sign-in session from your auth provider.
Which interviewer types can I practice with?
Six. HR Recruiter (behavioral, culture fit, motivation). Senior Engineer (technical depth, system design, follow-up trade-offs). CTO (leadership, strategy, architecture calls). PM (product sense, prioritization, execution). Engineering Manager (people, delivery, mentoring, hiring). Sales/BD (pipeline, qualifying, negotiation). Pick the one closest to who you'll actually meet. Tell us the company and the AI pulls real signals from the role description.
Can I retake a mock interview?
Yes — as many times as your monthly minute pool allows. There's no per-session retry cap, just the monthly limit (15 min on Free, 150 min on Pro, 450 min on Elite). The best results come from running a full session, reading the debrief carefully, then waiting a day before retrying. The gap is what compounds the improvement.
What session lengths can I pick?
5, 10, or 15 minutes. Shorter slots are great for drilling one topic (one system-design question, one behavioral story). The full 15-minute version is closest to a real phone screen. All three count against your monthly minutes at face value.
What languages does the coding part support?
Python, JavaScript, and Java. Your code runs live in a real sandbox with a 5-second timeout and a 256 MB memory cap — exactly what a take-home interview feels like. More languages on the way.
When does a cert unlock?
Score 90 or higher on a finished mock interview and a Publish cert button shows up on the debrief screen. No tier restriction — Free, Pro, and Elite users can all publish. The 90-point floor is what keeps the badge meaningful rather than a participation trophy.
How does cert publishing work?
Hit Publish on the debrief screen and your session gets a permanent public URL at cruto.ai/cert/.... The page shows your score, the interviewer type, the target role, session length, strengths, and what to improve. Share to LinkedIn or X right from the screen. Unpublish anytime — the URL returns 404 immediately.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes — one click from the Billing page or reply to any payment receipt. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Pro or Elite features until then.
Do you offer refunds?
No prorated refunds for unused time, but if anything breaks on our end — a failed test generation, a dropped interview session — we credit the affected month on request. Email hello@cruto.ai.
Why are there limits on Free and Pro?
Live mock interviews are genuinely expensive to run — minutes of real-time AI audio cost real money. 15 minutes a month on Free is already meaningful spend per user before anything else. The limits keep the free tier a real, sustainable product (not a 7-day trial in disguise). Elite's 450 min/month covers roughly 30 full sessions — more than any honest monthly prep load — without exposing us to runaway usage.
Will you raise prices later?
Existing subscribers stay on the price they signed up at for as long as they keep the subscription active. If we raise the list price, you're grandfathered. We'd rather keep happy users on a lower price than churn them onto a higher one.
